Disney love

I have had a creative burst recently due to some Disney inspiration! I love drawing me some Disney princesses!

An Anna to match my Elsa.

And Rapunzel! Because I don't think I ever drew anything more than a doodle of her which is weird because I feel like I had loads of Rapunzel doodles around the time Tangled came out.

Babies

I thought I'd make a quick post for a card I recently made. My cousin had a baby this month so I thought I'd make a card just for them!

Queen Elsa

I have been so excited for Frozen ever since it was announced!! It was as cute as I expected! I'm also glad Olaf wasn't as obnoxious as he seemed in the trailers. I thought he was pretty cute actually.

Elsa was pretty much a shoe-in for being my new favorite princess as soon as I saw her concept designs. She didn't let me down either! She's totally my new favorite! So clearly I needed some fan art of her in my life! Hope you like it!

I'm alive!

Wow it's been months since my last update!! Although you haven't been missing much!

I've posted a few things on Tumblr since my last post but not a lot. My day job has been keeping me quite busy! I am working on a super cute new logo design right now for someone though that I hope works out. Either way I can't wait to share it!

My latest creation though is for my annual Christmas card! I'm very active with Postcrossing and made some cards last year to send out. I had a lot of fun doing it so I decided to make it an annual tradition! I also gave them out to my family who of course loved it. So here it is! If you like it so much that you want to send some out yourself — you can! I've posted it over at Zazzle. You can also buy last year's too if you're interested.

And in the spirit of Christmas and gift giving I thought I'd gush about one of my favorite gifts I've received and that is an adopted manatee, Lenny! Manatees are my favorite animal and I'm very passionate about them. Over at Save the Manatee Club you too can adopt a manatee for yourself or as a gift. I realize not everyone loves manatees as much as I do (although they should!) so maybe you could adopt your friend or relative their favorite animal. I just want to help spread the word (and the joy of manatees)!

Now the rest of this post is basically just an art dump with a few things from the past few months.

This was for a Lion King t-shirt challenge over at Threadless about a month ago. The winners still haven't been announced so keep wishing me luck!

This was for a Game of Thrones poster contest I didn't win. That's OK though, I'm still happy with how it came out.

This was something someone commissioned after seeing my Sailor Neptune post awhile back.

My friend's fantasy football avatar.

And some Adventure Time because nothing is better for doodling that that!

River

This past weekend I attended a baby shower for two friends of mine. They're having a girl and plan on naming her River. For a wedding gift I painted them a picture and I also took some engagement and wedding photos for them. So of course I wanted to do something for their baby shower too! But I couldn't figure anything out. So I just accepted I wouldn't make anything.

Now I've been on a major Doctor Who kick here recently (thanks to these two friends actually) and it's practically all I've had on the brain. So at the last minute my brain was like...wait...baby shower, Doctor Who fans, baby River....RIVER SONG.

So I got a onesie and painted this on to it! If I had had more time I would have liked to send it off to have it printed somewhere but oh well. Next time! This was my first time using fabric medium and paint so hopefully it holds up. It sure feels better than just straight up acrylic.

Doctor Who

I finally started watching Doctor Who. I know I'm way behind the times. I really love it though! I'm a few episodes in to Season 3 and miss Rose already. I know she comes back some later but she'll never be there all the time again!

Stretch

This started as something much different. It was supposed to be for a banner but I ended up just scrapping the idea entirely. I liked the girl though. So I thought, "Oh she'd make a great mermaid!" That failed. "No wait, maybe a sorceress or something." Failed again. "How about a ballerina! YEAH that's it!" Wrong. "Yoga pose?" Closer. "I've got it! A girl stretching with fancy arms!" YEP.

Lagoona Blue

Awhile back I came across Monster High Dolls-- now if I was a kid again these would have been totally my thing. Especially Lagoona Blue. I love sea life, seas monsters, nymphs, etc... so when I saw her I kind of loved her. I started thinking about her again today and did this little doodle. Too bad her outfit is completely tragic. She needs a wardrobe makeover ASAP!

I'm really not into dolls these days, especially ones with Bratz faces but I do have a fondness for cute plushies! I remember seeing plushes awhile back at Target. They never had Lagoona so I just never got one. I kind of forgot about it until doing this doodle. I looked them up and for some reason they're super expensive now! I guess they stopped making them or something?  Too bad.

This Lagoona is pretty cute! Maybe I'll find one one day.

Weird Animal Wednesday

My friend is a teacher at a daycare and something she decided to incorporate into her class is "Weird Animal Wednesday". She comes up with animals and facts and has me do some little fact sheets for her. I've been enjoying it and it gets me some practice drawing animals. I don't hate drawing animals but I don't really love it either. I'm just kind of indifferent to it.

So here are some weird animals for your Wednesday!

The ladies of Final Fantasy

I was just sitting around thinking about how I hadn't played any Final Fantasy game in years! It used to be such a big part of my life and now I hardly even think about it. So one doodle led to another and that led me to this!

Who's your favorite character? Mine was always Yuna. Although I'm very fond of Yuffie too.

I actually have a little Yuna figure on top of my work computer.

Flannery

So I haven't watched Pokemon (new or old) in YEARS. Probably since 2001 I'd say. I have absolutely no idea what is going on with it these days at all. In fact just last week my roommate informed me that there are now 649 Pokemon. Seriously??? I'm not entirely sure if you showed me a picture of the original 150 I could even name them all anymore (which actually makes me a little sad to think about).

Anyway I've been completely hooked on this game Drawception the past couple of weeks. I've actually been playing this game in the real world (know to us as "Telectionary") with friends for about a year now. A friend showed me how to play and I was in love. It's my favorite party game hands down. It cracks me up like no other! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Today I was prompted to draw "Flannery". So I Googled "Flannery" and came up with this fire gym leader:

I was like really Pokemon? In over 10 years your characters still look like this? I mean...come on. Get with the times! This is the best character design you could come up with???

So I felt compelled to doodle a re-design. I'm not saying it's brilliant or anything but Flannery reminds me of a character I would have drawn as a 10 year old and then come across now like, Yikes! I should redesign this poor character trapped in the late 90s/early 00's. I mean look at those pants and shoes! Ugh! They're the worst! That hair is a mess. I have no idea why she has infuriated me so much!!

So the point of this (basically pointless) post is to complain about Pokemon's serious lack of creativity because I felt like I needed to.

Fun fact: Mew is, and always will be, my favorite Pokemon.

Tattoo Neptune

I wanted to take my mind off of things and draw something familiar yet different. I succeeded!

I've had tattoos on the brain lately. I don't have any and never really expected to get one. But lately I've been thinking about getting a little something for the experience of a tattoo. We'll see if I go through with it!

I've always admired classic tattoo art. I just love it! But I had never really thought about illustrating in that style before. So today I did! I don't expect to be doing it often but it was a fun little study.

Eglė

Yesterday I received a postcard from Palanga, Lithuania with this statue of Eglė, the Queen of Serpents. I had never heard of her but looked it up and it's a very popular fairy tale of a woman, Eglė, who was taken under the sea to marry the King of Serpents. Her family ended up killing him so she was so heartbroken she turned her 4 children and herself into trees. I don't know about that ending but I love a good sea related myth!

That got me inspired to do this:

It's got all my favorite colors! I could draw sea nymphs and creatures all day, every day and be a happy girl! I especially like my serpents.

Momo

I just wanted to brag about the cutest picture I think I've ever taken of my dog. I only wish I had taken it on my actual camera and not my phone. Oh well!

I also doodled this the other day and I don't think I posted it here.
